LG unveils its first Core i7 notebook

lgxnote5901 Korea’s LG has recently shown off its first netbook with Intel’s Core i7 quad-core processor, the 15.6-inch XNOTE R590. Two models will be available, one with a 1.73GHz i7 and the other sporting a 1.6GHz version. Either version will ship with Windows 7 Home Premium and NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 230M graphics chipset with 1GB of dedicated RAM.

The same display does duty in either model, with LED backlighting and 1600Ă—900 resolution. Either also has a Wi-Fi module, a DVD burner and a six-cell battery. The slower model makes do with 2GB of RAM and a smaller 320GB hard drive, while the faster version has 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

Pricing is expected to be the equivalent of $1,683 for the base version and $2,104 for the faster model. The entry-level model is due out in November, while the faster version is already available in Korea. LG now regularly ships its notebooks outside of the US, though prices and hardware configurations may change. – Electronista
